Synaxis of the Theotokos at Maranakios

On this day, the 15th of June, we commemorate the Synaxis of our Most Holy Lady the Theotokos at Maranakios. According to the Lavra Codex D 39, on June 16th we commemorate the Synaxis of the Theotokos at Dokianais or Ioukoundianai. There we are informed that the Synaxis at Maranakios and Dokianais are the same. Ioukoundianai was located in the Hebdomon district of Constantinople. According to the Patria ascribed to George Kodinos, the Church of the Theotokos at Maranakios, otherwise called Marnakios, was built between 610 and 638. It is said to have been built by Patriarch Sergios, who also built the Church of Saint George in Chalcedon, and it was here that his body rested.
