The six athletes seized their wreaths.

The Holy Six Martyrs of Bizye* met their end by having their bones crushed and their flesh torn.

Notes:

* Bizye is the ancient Greek name for today's Vize, in the Marmara region of Turkey. Some sources say it should read Libya.
