Holy Martyr Maurice

St. Maurice the Martyr (Feast Day - July 1)

Verses

Naked Maurice was anointed with honey,
The bees considering this honey sweet to eat.

Holy Martyr Maurice met his end by being anointed with honey and bitten by bees.

This is the same Martyr Maurice commemorated on December 27th, where more details are given. The only difference is that there the Synaxarion of Constantinople calls him a Hieromartyr, whereas here he is called a Martyr, though in the details of his life and martyrdom on December 27th, nowhere does it say he an ordained cleric of any sort, but that he served as a soldier. The same iambic verses are used for both.
