The baptism of 13 adult Catechumens was celebrated by Metropolitan Nicholas of Fthiotidos on Tuesday 3 April 2012 at 9:00 AM in the cross-shaped Adult Baptistry of the Holy Metropolis located in the Church of Saint Paraskevi in Nea Amplianis, Lamia.

The Sacred Mystery, which was attended by family and friends of the newly-baptized, took place with early christian order and solemnity.

At the end of the Mystery His Eminence gave advice and guidance to the newly-baptized for their new spiritual lives within the Body of the Orthodox Church, which should be consistent with the Gospel commands to always seek good and avoid evil.

Both the Newly-Illumined Christians and their Sponsors expressed their joy and sincere gratitude to His Eminence for this unprecedented spiritual experience.

It is worth noting that the Newly-Illumined Orthodox Christians came from different parts of Fthiotida and had previously attended courses from the Catechism School of the Holy Metropolis, which is made up of worthy and trained clergy who teach Catechumens the Holy Mysteries of the Church, the Interpretation of Holy Scripture, the lives of the Saints, as well as the life of worship in the Church.

In all, since 2001, when the Adult Baptistry was constructed, 305 Catechumens have been baptized within by Metropolitan Nicholas himself.
