Synaxarion of the Holy Martyrs Mark and Mokianos

Sts. Mark and Mokianos the Martyrs (Feast Day - July 3)

Verses

Mark endured beheading,
Inscribing the path to the passion of Mokianos.

These Saints were urged to sacrifice to the idols by the eparch Maximus and were not persuaded, rather they boldly confessed the name of Christ, and were beheaded.

When Saint Mokianos was going to the place of judgement, he was followed by his wife and children who were crying, but the Saint advised them to be quiet and not cry.

When Saint Mark was beheaded, his wife was standing there, and with rejoicing she took with her hands his head as if it were a precious treasure.

In this way the two brave athletes of Christ ascended victoriously into the heavens.
