An Annual Miracle of Saint Anthimos of Chios on his Feast Day

I wanted to share a miracle I experienced yesterday, 15 February 2016, at the Sacred Monastery of Panagias Voitheias in Chios. Yesterday was the feast of Saint Anthimos of Chios, the founder of the Sacred Monastery of Panagias Voitheias, and I had the great blessing to be present at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy.

After Divine Communion, the banners and the six-winged cherubim were prepared for a procession of the Holy Skull of the Saint in the courtyard of the church.

When the Archimandrites took the Holy Skull in their hands, to go out to the courtyard of the church, the people began shouting: "Miracle! Miracle!" and they were doing prostrations saying, "Again the Saint is swinging his oil lamp!"

Then I looked next to the shrine of Panagias the Voitheias, to the icon and oil lamp of Saint Anthimos, which was attached by three chains, and they trembled as if a motor was on, and the oil lamp swayed back and forth.

I was shocked, because I not only saw the oil lamp swinging, but I saw the chains trembling from the top to the bottom, and all of this stopped as soon as the Holy Skull returned within the church.

I was told that the Saint does the same miracle every year on his feast, swinging the same oil lamp at the time of the procession. We must have faith, because Christ and our Panagia are with us at every moment, and with our Saints they make us worthy to experience miracles. May we all have the blessing and protection of Saint Anthimos of Chios.
