Athletics Means Civilization

With these words His Eminence Metropolitan Amphilochios of Kisamos and Selinou welcomed on September 11, 2013 the new athletic year with the Sanctification Service he celebrated at the soccer field, which is located at the headquarters of the Metropolis of Kisamos.

In his message he said:

"Athletics means civilization. It doesn't only exercise the body, but it cultivates the soul through discipline, obedience, cooperation, fair play and the effort to succeed. It is an opportunity for transcendence. It is an outlet for creative work, and gives our youth the ability to occupy themselves in places far away from dangers and pitfalls that are lurking around them and among us, lurking to ensnare the youth and lead them into worlds of sensations and hallucinations. I rejoice that in our land, our beautiful Kisamos, we have cultivated and brought to fruition the spirit of sportsmanship, healthy athleticism."
