The Relics of Saint Haralambos the Wonderworker


1. The largest portion of the skull of St. Haralambos is found in the Monastery of Saint Stephen at Meteora. We do not have much information how they came to acquire it, except that it was given to them by Prince Vladislav II of Wallachia (allegedly given in either 1398, 1412 or 1413, although Vladislav II reigned 1447-1456). How the Wallachians came to acquire it is not known, but two dependencies were also given to the Monastery in Wallachia.




2. A smaller portion of the skull rests in New Iraklitsa. It was housed in the Church of Saint George in old Iraklitsa in Asia Minor. Then in 1922, together with the Greek refugees, it came to New Iraklitsa in Kavala and is now housed in the Church of Panagia Phaneromeni.


3. A portion of the skull is in the Church of Saint Haralambos at Thespiae in Boetia.


4. A portion of the skull is in Kleiston Monastery at Attica.

5. The jaw of the Saint is in Koutloumouseiou Monastery at Mount Athos.

6. The left arm and some skin of the Saint is in Gregoriou Monastery at Mount Athos.

7. Skin and portions of relics of the Saint are in the Chapel of Saint Xenia the Russian at Mandra of Attica.

8. The incorrupt right hand of the Saint is in Mega Spelaion Monastery at Kalavryta.


9. Portions of the relics in Iveron Monastery at Mount Athos.










10. A portion of the relic is in the Monastery of the Holy Trinity, at Pente Vrises in Langada of Thessaloniki.


11. A portion of the relic is in the Monastery of Omblos at Patras, Greece.


12. The shinbone of the Saint is in the Monastery of Saint Paul at Mount Athos.


13. A portion of the relic is in the Skete of the Honorable Forerunner at Beroia.


14. A portion of the relic is in the Church of Saint Haralambos at Iasi of Romania.



15. A portion of the relic is in the Monastery of Hurezi or Horezu at Valcea County of Romania.


16. A portion of the relic is in the Church of Saint Demetrios at Bucharest, Romania.


17. A portion of the relic is in the Church of the Holy Trinity (Manu Cavafu) at Bucharest, Romania.



18. A portion of the relic is in the Church of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel at Iasi, Romania.


19. A portion of the relic is in the Viforâta Monastery at Viforâta, Dambovita County of Romania.


20. A finger of the Saint is in Ciolanu Monastery at the Tisău commune, Buzău County, Romania.

21. A portion of the leg of the Saint is in Portaitissa Monastery at Kornofolia of Evros, Greece.

22. A large portion of the hand of the Saint is in the Monastery of Saint George at Feneou in Corinth.

23. Six portions of the relic of the Saint are in Dionysiou Monastery at Mount Athos.

24. A finger and nine portions of the relic of the Saint are in Pantokratoros Monastery at Mount Athos.

25. Other portions of the relic of Saint Haralambos are in the Monasteries of Dadiou at Fthiotida, Leimonos at Lesvos, Panagia Goumenissa at Kilkis, the Archangels at Aridaia, Saint Dionysios at Litochoros, Zavordas at Grevenon, Holy Unmercenaries at Kastoria, Rovelista at Arta, Stragiadon at Kalambaka, Panagia of the Spilias at Karditsa, Ampelakiotissa and Varnakova at Nafpakto, Sagmata at Boetia, Penteli at Attica, Voulkanou at Messinia, Gerokomeiou at Patras, Saint Theodosios at Argos, Saint Nicholas Kaltezon at Arkadia, Sepetou at Ileias and the Lavra of Saint Alexander Nevsky at St. Petersburg.
