Testimony of the Bright Soul of Saint George Karslides Leaving His Body When He Died

The first icon of St. George Karslides in the Hut of St. Ephraim of Katounakia.

Aikaterini Mitsou narrates the following:

"At one point, as she spoke to us, I had a feeling and I said to her:

'Why don't you go, grandma, to see what the Elder is doing?'

'I went a little while ago and he is sleeping,' she answered me.

As time passed, the mother Argyro withdrew to her room and the women lay down on the mats.

Very late at night Konstantinia and her aunt got up to go to the bathroom. And what do they see! They see the window from the Elder's cell open and a very strong light coming out from inside! No one had electricity at that time.

'What was happening?' I wondered.

It was something that they both saw! They came in again and leaned over. Five minutes later they all heard mother Argyro lamenting:

'The Elder has died! The Elder has died!'

Then they understood that the strong light they had seen was his holy soul that left his body! They ran all the way down to his cell. His body was still warm."
