The Miracle of the Holy Cloud of Mount Tabor: Testimony of the Abbot of the Monastery on Tabor

The miracle of the descent of the Holy Cloud on Mount Tabor during the vigil of the feast of the Transfiguration of Christ on August 6/19 is one of the three annual miracles of the Holy Land witnessed by thousands of people, together with the Holy Light that emerges from the tomb of Christ on Easter and the reversal of the Jordan River on the feast of Theophany. The Holy Cloud descends over the Monastery of the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor spreading a beautiful aroma like incense, to the joy of all the faithful. Sometimes the cloud is so thick that you cannot see six feet in front of you.

Below is the testimony of Archimandrite Hilarion, who is the current Abbot of the Monastery of the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor, from a video interview produced by Orthodoxia News Agency:

"The people come to be blessed by the holy luminous Cloud, which descends every year, and I say this from my own personal experience, because during my service here of many years, there has not been one year when the Holy Cloud has not descended.

It is like a giant cloud, such as when a great rain storm comes, but it comes through very slowly, where everybody receives it, doing prostrations, doing their crosses, some crying. It covers the entire area.

There is not a specific time when it comes, nor how long it stays. Sometimes it only comes for a short time."
