The Relics of Saint Basil the Great


The Skull of Saint Basil, gifted to the Monastery of Great Lavra at Mount Athos by Emperor Nikephoros Phokas.

Right Arm of Saint Basil in the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. The silver reliquary dates to 1849.

Portion of right hand of Saint Basil in the Church of Saint George of the Greeks (San Giorgio dei Greci)  in Venice. The silver reliquary was made in Constantinople. In 1528 this relic belonged to Gabriel Severus, the Metropolitan of Monemvasia, who died in Venice in 1616.
