Amalfion Benedictine Monastery on Mount Athos

In his Amalfion Western Rite Monastery on Mt Athos , Fr Aidan Keller gives a fascinating history of a Benedictine monastery that existed on Mount Athos from the tenth to the thirteenth centuries. This monastery of Italian monks on the Holy Mountain used the Western rite and followed the Rule of Saint Benedict. Today only the tower remains amidst its snake infested ruins.
