Truth or Dare with Dr. Ken Miller

Casey Luskin, Intelligent Design defender over at Evolution News and Views, has posted excerpts of a lecture guide to the claims of theistic evolutionist Dr. Ken Miller over the past few months. The purpose of this guide is to give an alternative viewpoint on many of Ken Miller’s arguments and to help critically evaluate his claims. Now that the guide is complete (and available for download below), we can learn more about the debate over ID and Evolution and think critically about Professor Miller’s arguments.

The segments of this guide have included:

I. Science and Religion: Is Evolution “Random and Undirected”?

II. Misrepresenting the Definition of Intelligent Design

III. Confusing Evidence for Common Ancestry With Evidence for Darwinian Evolution

IV. The Name-Dropping Approach to Transitional Fossils

V. Spinning Tales About the Bacterial Flagellum

VI. Misrepresenting Michael Behe’s Arguments for Irreducible Complexity of the Blood Clotting Cascade

VII. Ken Miller and the Evolution of the Immune System: “Not Good Enough”?

Truth or Dare with Dr. Ken Miller: A Lecture Guide to the Anti-Intelligent Design Claims by Dr. Kenneth Miller (Full Text: PDF)

by Casey Luskin

The Darwinian educational establishment doesn’t make it easy for you to become objectively informed on the topic of evolution and intelligent design, but with a little work on your own, it can be done. If you want to base your views on a full and complete understanding of the scientific evidence, you will need to pro-actively research and investigate the pro-ID arguments that many of your faculty may be opposing, misrepresenting, or perhaps even outright censoring. Yes, take courses advocating evolution. But also read material from credible Darwin skeptics to learn about other viewpoints. Only then can you truly make up your mind in an informed fashion.

With a little proactive self-education, critical thinking, and patience, you can keep yourself informed in this debate. Many of the websites listed below contain helpful information and resources about evolution and intelligent design.

I hope this guide is helpful and wish you the best as you explore this exciting and challenging debate.

You are talking about scientific facts accepted by every single serious biologist in the world, not just Ken Miller.

What debate could you possibly be talking about? There is NO debate about the established truth of evolution. Just because some scientifically illiterate god-soaked morons deny the established truth of evolution, that's no reason to pretend there's some debate about it.

There are morons who are almost as stupid as evolution deniers who deny the truth of the holocaust. Nobody thinks that means there's some debate about the truth of the holocaust. The opinions of retarded people don't matter, and nobody can possibly be more retarded than evolution deniers, also known as creationists because they believe a god fairy used a magic wand to create all creatures out of nothing.

Insane people do not make a debate.

  2. Human Ape needs to climb off his tree and get his facts straight. What a monkey brain! His comments alone speak of his own insanity. Thanks for the laugh though.

  3. I only wonder why Dr. Behe wasn't able to make his case in Dover. In addition, if it is so obvious why did Casey Luskin need four years to write these eight (8) pages as a reply without further advancing his very own "Teach the Controversy" campaign that failed already years ago. And why does he call his pamphlet an "educational resource"? If a school board takes the bait and introduces it into a class room they will loose the next Dover type trial. It seems unlikely though, that Casey Luskin or the Discovery Institute will contribute to the costs once the school board lost the trial. Maybe they even make money out of it like William Dembski who received 20,000 $ to prepare his testimony but didn't pay it back after not showing up in DOver.

  4. Your scientific "facts" seem to not hold up and constantly change. I bet you once believed the origin of life came about in some primordial soup. Today that theory is disproven:

This is just one reason of hundreds why modern science of origins, which is nothing factual or established, needs to be constantly in check. Great article by Luskin!

"I teach them all the good I can, and recommend them to others from whom I think they will get some moral benefit. And the treasures that the wise men of old have left us in their writings I open and explore with my friends. If we come on any good thing, we extract it, and we set much store on being useful to one another." - Socrates
"In imitation of the method of the bee, I shall make my composition from those things which are conformable with the truth and from our enemies themselves gather the fruit of salvation. But I shall reject all that is worthless and falsely labeled as knowledge." - St. John the Damascene

All Saints Celebrated In January

Sisoes, the great ascetic, before the tomb of Alexander, King of the Greeks, who was once covered in glory. Astonished, he mourns for the vicissitudes of time and the transience of glory, and tearfully declaims thus: "The mere sight of you, tomb, dismays me and causes my heart to shed tears, as I contemplate the debt we, all men, owe. How can I possibly stand it? Oh, death! Who can evade you?"

"Ascend, ascend, brethren, ascend with eagerness and resolve in your hearts, listening to him who says: ‘Let us go up to the mountain of the Lord and to the house of our God, Who maketh our feet like those of the deer, and setteth us on high places, that we may be victorious with His song.’" - St. John Climacos

"May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world." - Galatians 6:14

“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 18:3
